A busy night split across two waves — a violent evening in east and west Bakersfield, then a quieter post-midnight stretch punctuated by a fire, a stolen-firearms search, and a car through a building. The biggest single event was a house fire on Far Vista Avenue that grew to half the structure before crews got water on it. The night also brought a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash in Kern Canyon Estates, a reported shooting on Bernard Street, a domestic assault with a vehicle used as a weapon, and an early-morning search for a tow-truck driver connected to four missing long guns.
The big one
Just after 10:30 p.m., dispatchers sent a reinforced response to a house fire in the 100 block of Far Vista Avenue in east Bakersfield: Engines 81, 84, 83, 85, and 71, two battalion chiefs, and a safety officer. By 10:44 p.m. crews had water on the fire and reported roughly 50 percent involvement of the structure. An interior attack with a two-out crew was established, and breathing support was requested — a working fire that kept east-side companies tied up well past 11 p.m. No injuries were announced on the air.

Vehicle versus pedestrian, Grand Canyon Road. At 9:39 p.m., fire and CHP units were sent to a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash in Kern Canyon Estates. Arriving crews found a single patient on the roadway; a full medical response was staged and the patient was taken by ambulance.
Reported shooting, Bernard Street. Around 10:12 p.m., a caller reported that someone had been shot in the face in the 300 block of Bernard Street. Multiple units were sent en route; no disposition was heard on the air before the feed moved on.
Domestic assault with a vehicle, west Bakersfield. Just after 10:30 p.m., a woman said a suspect had tried to hit her with her own vehicle. The suspect — described as a Hispanic male, 54, in a black shirt and blue shorts — was being sought by patrol units.
Semi truck hit-and-run, Main Drane Road. Around 9:46 p.m., a semi truck with a white box trailer was reported driving recklessly northbound on Main Drane Road, then exiting westbound Highway 46 toward the truck stop. CHP was searching for the vehicle.
Missing long guns, tow-truck search. Just before 4 a.m., deputies and CHP were searching for a flatbed tow truck — white cab, driver in a blue jumpsuit and a black hat with a skull-and-crossbones logo — connected to reports of four long guns missing. No capture was heard on the air.

Traffic came in two waves: a heavy 9–11 p.m. stretch anchored by the pedestrian crash, the reported shooting, and the Far Vista house fire, then a second pulse after midnight with the Main Drane suspicious-person call and the 3 a.m. tow-truck search. East Bakersfield carried most of the load, and the structure fire was the only event that kept a large multi-company response working for an extended stretch. No fire-related injuries were announced on the air.

A busy early-morning shift across Kern County: a semi-truck fire on Interstate 5 near the Grapevine, a three-vehicle crash with multiple patients near Kimberlina Road, and a vehicle fire on Mount Vernon Avenue. Sixteen incidents tracked between 9 PM and 6 AM.
The big one
Semi-truck fire on Interstate 5 — shortly after 4 AM, crews were sent to a semi with fire starting underneath the cab on northbound I-5 about a mile south of Grapevine Road. CHP arrived first; fire crews staged and knocked the fire down. No injuries were reported, and the truck needed a tow.
