What Happened Overnight in Bakersfield & Kern County

A shooting call in east Bakersfield led the overnight log: a caller reported a man got out of a white four-door sedan, fired one round and that a person was bleeding. The night also brought a stabbing on Chester Avenue, a home burglary alarm on Millwood Way, a collision between two semis on Highway 46 west of Interstate 5, and a semi fire on Highway 58. Fire crews handled several grass and vehicle fires, and the rest of the log was medical aids, alarms and traffic checks.

The big one

Shots fired, one person reported bleeding

At 12:25 a.m. officers and medics were sent after a caller reported a man got out of a white four-door sedan, pointed a gun in the air and fired one round, and that a person was bleeding. A second party was reported to have driven a white four-door to a nearby motel, and units were checking the area.

Around the county

Stabbing reported on Chester Avenue

At 1:19 a.m. a person walked into a business on Chester Avenue with a stab wound, and deputies and a fire crew were sent to the area around Decatur Street and North Chester Avenue.

Burglary alarm at a home on Millwood Way

At 12:18 a.m. units started to an audible burglary alarm at a home on Millwood Way to cover the perimeter and the living room door, with cross streets at Thornwood Drive and Woodcastle Way.

Two semis collide on Highway 46

At 4:33 a.m. two semis, a maroon semi with a silver trailer and a Walmart semi, collided in the eastbound lanes of Highway 46 west of Interstate 5 and ended up stuck together in the roadway. Crews reported a backup and an exit closed, with drivers routed around.

Semi fire on Highway 58

At 10:39 p.m. a semi was reported on fire in the westbound lanes of Highway 58 and fire crews from a nearby station responded, with a grass fire in the same stretch brought under control a short time later.

Rollover on East Brundage Lane

At 5:12 a.m. a silver sedan rolled over in the area of East Brundage Lane and Kincaid Street and a full rescue response was sent. All parties were reported out of the vehicles.
