What Happened Overnight in Bakersfield & Kern County

Crews battled a fully involved house fire in the city before dawn, a pedestrian was struck on Edison Highway, and officers worked two weapon-related assaults on the same night. Here's what came over the scanner.

The big one

Fully involved house fire

— Firefighters arrived at a single-story, single-family home shortly before 4 a.m. and found it fully involved. The first-arriving engine pulled an attack line while incoming companies secured a water supply and pulled a backup line, and a truck company worked on vertical ventilation and utilities. A battalion chief took command of the fire, which drew multiple engines and a truck company to the scene.
