Firefighters spent the predawn hours knocking down a grass fire in a field off East Pacheco Road that drew a multi-flank response before crews stopped its spread. The night also saw a jackknifed big rig on westbound Highway 58 with a trauma activation, two reports of women possibly held against their will at motels, and an emergency childbirth at an apartment complex on Panama Lane.

Around 3:43 a.m., a grass fire burning in a field at Cottonwood Road and East Pacheco Road brought a response of multiple engines and patrol units in east Bakersfield. Firefighters attacked both flanks of the blaze, and by about 4:42 a.m. crews reported the fire's spread was stopped and additional units were being canceled. Crews stayed on scene to finish suppressing hot spots.

Big rig jackknifes on westbound Highway 58.
Around 10:27 p.m., a big rig jackknifed and struck the center divider on westbound Highway 58 just east of Broome Avenue. A trauma activation was called for a person with possible long-bone fractures, and ambulances responded.
Woman possibly held against her will at a South Union motel.
Around 1:32 a.m., a caller reported a female believed to be held against her will by a male subject at a motel on South Union Avenue. Officers were dispatched to check on her.
Woman pulled back into a room.
Around 5:42 a.m., hotel security watched a female try to flee a room while a male subject pulled her back inside at a motel in central Bakersfield. Officers responded to the scene.
Transient assaults business employee.
Around 10:24 p.m., a passerby reported a transient male assaulting an employee at a downtown business. Officers were sent to the location.

- 2:09 a.m. — Medical_aid, Victor Street. Engine responded to Victor Street for a person experiencing a seizure.
