What Happened Overnight in Bakersfield & Kern County
Officers with helicopter support chased two suspects who fled on foot across a property near Golden State Avenue in north Bakersfield, and a separate foot chase near Decatur Avenue ended when officers boxed in the subject between two fenced properties. Crews also spent the early hours on a pair of vehicles that struck power poles in eastern Kern — one of them rolling onto its roof — plus a vegetation fire burning on both sides of the tracks east of Golden State. Foot pursuit, Golden State Avenue
— Officers with helicopter support chased subjects who fled on foot across a property near Golden State Avenue in north Bakersfield, setting up a perimeter as the search continued.
Foot pursuit ends in containment, Decatur Avenue
— A foot chase through residential yards near Decatur Avenue ended when officers contained the suspect between two fenced properties after a pursuit.
Vehicle into power pole, King Street
— A vehicle left the roadway and struck a power pole in a vineyard off King Street in east Kern, shearing the pole and bringing down power lines. Crews responded to the scene.
Vehicle into power pole, Edison Highway
— A vehicle rolled onto its roof and crashed into a power pole along Edison Highway just west of the main stretch near the corridor, drawing a response from fire and law enforcement.
Vegetation fire east of Golden State
— A vegetation fire broke out along the railroad tracks and riverbed just east of Golden State Avenue, burning on both sides of the tracks. Fire crews were dispatched to knock it down.
Apartment fire, Fremont Street
— Fire crews were dispatched to an apartment complex in the Fremont Street area on the south end of the street, with multiple units responding.
Vehicle fire, Highway 99
— Fire crews were sent to a reported fire on Highway 99 just north of 7th Standard Road in the south county.
Knife disturbance, Pacheco Road
— A person reported to be armed with a knife was located in an alley area off Pacheco Road in south Bakersfield. The weapon was found and the situation resolved without injury.
Possible DUI, 18th Street
— A possible intoxicated driver fled a location in the 18th Street area after claiming to have a firearm, last seen heading southbound. Units searched the area.
