The Kern Overnight — August 30, 2026
A tractor-trailer fire on Pacheco Road reduced the big rig to a total loss, and a caller reported shots fired from inside his living room shortly before midnight. Overnight, officers also handled a welfare call on Ginger Oak Lane where a crying caller could not speak with a baby heard in the background, a large party that broke into a physical fight on the east side, and a man who threatened to shoot someone and was later seen carrying a baseball bat.

Around 11:26 p.m., crews responded to a reported fire on Pacheco Road. By 11:35, units described the tractor as a total loss, with the trailer being salvaged.

Shortly before midnight, a caller reported hearing a shot from inside his living room, and medical units were on scene.

Around 2:48 a.m., officers went to Ginger Oak Lane for a welfare check with medical aid requested. The reporting party was crying and unable to answer questions, with a baby heard crying in the background; a subject was later seen running through the carport toward a warehouse, and units held the perimeter.
Large party fight with possible gunfire.
Around 12:58 a.m., officers were sent to Potomac Avenue near Oswell Street for a large party that turned into a physical fight, with one caller reporting possible shots heard — unclear whether fireworks.
Man threatens to shoot, later seen with a baseball bat.
Around 10:08 p.m., a man threatened to shoot the reporting party's husband during a verbal dispute at a Bakersfield apartment complex. No weapon was seen at first, but the same subject was later seen walking through the complex with a baseball bat.
